Since 2002 I have been registered as general practitioner. After that I always worked in Amsterdam, the city where I grew up myself, and where I still feel at home. In 2010 I started to work at GP practice Dapperbuurt in a team with my colleague Saskia van Haeringen and our employees. Before I became a general practitioner, I have been working in the medical care for people with a mental disability. These people still have my special attention. I am a general practitioner with a broad interest, and I like to know more about my patients than just the medical part. The context of a medical issue often also determines the well-being of the person, and improving health succeeds better if I know the whole situation.
